Hooded Plover at Jurien Bay

Two Hooded Plovers along the edge of a gypsum pond.

Until recently, little was know about the distribution of the Hooded Plover along the coastal regions north of Perth.

Previously only recorded at Leeman Lakes, Philippa Schmucker has discovered another site at the CSR Gypsum Mine at Sandy Cape. The new site has been surveyed ten times since August 2014 by Ms Schmucker and hooded Plovers have been present on each occasion.
